Basic Gameplay

ParWords combines the classic Wordle word-guessing game with golf scoring mechanics. Your goal is to guess a 5-letter word in as few tries as possible.

Guess: Type a 5-letter word and click "Swing"
Par: Each hole has a target number of guesses (3-5 based on difficulty)
Score: Beat par for better scores, go over par for penalties

Letter Color System

A Green: Correct letter in correct position

B Yellow: Correct letter in wrong position

C Tan (Sand Trap): Letter is adjacent (±1 position) to correct spot

D Blue (Water Hazard): No letters match target (+1 stroke penalty)

E Black/Red (Out of Bounds): Reused wrong letter (+1 stroke penalty)

A Silver Border: Target has more instances (only on correct letters)

Eagle (E2): 2 under par - exceptional!
Birdie (B1): 1 under par - great job!
Par: Right on target
Bogey (+1): 1 over par
Double Bogey (+2): 2 over par
Higher scores: Keep trying to improve!

Driving Range: 1 hole for quick games

Pine Valley Nine: 9 holes with varied difficulty

Augusta Challenge: 18 holes for full tournaments
